Rev. Dr. Gilford Bisjak, Ph.D. - Our Transitional Pastor

Dr. Bisjak was born and raised on a farm in Northern Arizona, an experience that has shaped his world view.  When he was in high school he felt a calling to enter Chrsitian ministry.  He matriculated at Whittier College in California where he earned a B.A. degree.  After college he earned a M.Div. from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California.  Later in mid-life he returned to school where he earned his Ph.D. in psychology from U.S. International University in San Diego.  Following that he trained to become a Pastoral Counselor.  His work history has been quite varied with several occupations including farmer, school bus driver, substitute teaching and hospice chaplain.  He has been an adjunct professor of psychology at Chapman University in California and currently for Central Methodist University at their extension program in Union.  Mostly, however, Gil has been a pastor having served six churches in New Mexico, Arizona, and California.  Gil and his wife enjoy camping, hiking, and international travel.  They have two feline children Zoe and Izzy.  Both are avid gardeners with Gil specializing in veggies and Ramah in beautiful flower gardens.  Missouri bugs love their gardens.

A native of Morrison, MO, Karen has been a member of Zion for   over  30 years and has been our Music Director since Fall of 2019.   That was quite a year for her, because she also retired from   Washington School District as a music teacher and earned her   Ph.D.  In addition to being Music Director, she is also an adjunct for   Central Methodist University and a student teacher supervisor for   Missouri State University. Karen enjoys swimming (and is very   proud of her lessons and the fact that she can finally swim   underwater!) and yoga, as well as reading. She is involved with   Buddies Not Bullies, Neighbors United Undoing Racism in Franklin County, and the Four Rivers Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
